Does the book have a future?

American publisher Dorchester Publishing Inc is pulling out of publishing physical books altogether, and concentrating entirely on POD and e-books.

What do you think? Does a future exist where the Reader's Digest Condensed Edition will become a sought after rarity, salivated over on Antiques Roadshow?

Am just reading Super Sad True Love Story wherein that is indeed the case. Actually not quite, people who collect books are frowned on.

One of the saddest comments I overheard was someone who said "Oh, I can't bear books in the house. All that dust."

Yes! In the novel people go on about the way that books smell, and the hero constantly has to deoderise his collection.
